Why is a French Bulldog so expensive?
Some people wonder why is the French bulldog cost, also know as the Frenchie cost considered expensive? Well, medical is one. Each litter costs just about 10,000.00 in vet bills just concerning the reproductive costs.
C Section cost for a French Bulldog
These guys should not give birth naturally. Basically, a Frenchie puppy cannot “fit” without having a cesarian section, now commonly referred to as a C Section for Frenchies. The main reasons are the breed’s large head and narrow hips. For this reason almost all French bulldog moms often require a C-section to deliver. An average, scheduled C Section cost is around $6000.00 per litter. So breeders are paying $6000.00 or more if it is an emergency C section on each litter. Quick math shows 3 pups at $2000.00 each in just the cost of the C Section.
Artificial Insemination French Bulldog
Due to their narrow hips, top-heaviness and weak back legs, French bulldogs typically can’t mate on their own. Reproducing requires artificial insemination which costs around $2000.00 to $2500.00 per AI. This means each litter now costs around $8000-10,000 in vet bills.
Simple math shows now on 4 puppies a cost of $2500 per puppy before the breeder has paid for the Sire, or the Dam which usually cost upwards of $25,000 per breeding/show quality French bulldog parent.
Why are some Frenchies priced so cheap?
Quality is key when selecting a French bulldog puppy for sale. By trying to save money on a cheaper, lower quality dog, you significantly increase your risk of having health issues with your new Frenchie pup. There is a reason why the French bulldog price chart is all over the place because it is not just based on colors or coat type. Sure, a Fluffy frenchie is more money on average than one that is not a long haired French bulldog.
