Starting in 2022/2023 we have started to notice a significant following of the “big rope French Bulldog” movement including Fluffy Big Rope French Bulldog Puppies as one of the types of big rope French Bulldogs.

If you are considering this type of pup you really need to consider who you are buying from. Top breeders are very diligent in learning where all of their lines come from, and are particular about every single type of male or female within that lineage. While the AKC does not let you register them specifically as “big rope Frenchie” they can be registered with the AKC no issue.

What is a big rope French bulldog?

A Big rope French bulldog puppy is given the name for the significantly more prominent fold of skin over it’s nose. Big Ropes as they’re called for short represent some of the newest types of French bulldogs available across the world. Frenchie Breeders have isolated certain dogs that present a noticeably larger fold over their noses and that it is a dominant trait. Over the last few months these have become more and more popular from pet owners.

Some breeders, certainly not all but some have been breeding directly to the Sharpei to create their own big ropes. While the bigger rope may have very well come from combining a Sharpei with a French bulldog at some point, the DNA should reflect that the dog is a Frenchie and not showing sharpei influence.

After all, these new colors, coat types, etc are all from at some point, some one combined a French Bulldog and another breed in order to add in a color, or coat type, or in this case a physical change to the rope (the roll of cute chub over the nose).

Fluffy Big Rope French Bulldog

The other and most expensive and I guess “rarest” to say is the Fluffy Big Rope French Bulldog for sale. These guys are basically just fluffy versions of the new big rope. Beautiful, super unique and the most expensive, the fluffy big ropes are definitely “rare” in the dog world.

With rarer colors costing most, these are available typically in a wide range, however the newer more rare colors seem to make up MOST of the big ropes that carry or show visually the “fluffy” gene. Fluffy big rope Frenchie pups are certainly super cute and unique that is for sure. Our fluffs are usually selling at a price around 25% higher than our normal non fluffy babies.

All of our big rope Frenchies are 100% AKC registered puppies. When we produce puppies here they are always 100% AKC Registered. Like all of our dogs here at Designer, our big ropes are 4 panel DNA health clear, as are their parents and grandparents. Big Ropes are available in basically all colors as well as coat types.

This means you can find a blue big rope Frenchie but also an Isabella Fluffy big rope just as well. Prices are slightly higher than normal puppies, and fluffy big ropes are higher than that.

What does big rope mean in French Bulldogs?

A common question that we get asked is, “What are big rope french bulldogs?”In short, calling the rope “big” refers to the largest and centered wrinkle or fold of fat above the Frenchies nose.

This is enlarged when compared to normal French Bulldogs and gives an appearance of a thicker, larger and typically very central single “rope.”

This larger rope characteristic is considered more unique and newer in the world of Frenchies. It is believed that some breeders injected more English into the Frenchie line, while others used Shar-Pei blood.

How much does a big rope French Bulldog cost?

The cost can be $6,000-$25,000 depending on color, coat type, obviously the quality and sex. For example an Isabella Fluffy big rope will cost more than a black, cocoa, blue or fawn simply due to the rareness of both the Isabella shade, and fluffy coat.

Are big rope Frenchies healthy?

Like many French bulldogs, Big Rope’s can have health issues. The key to a healthy big rope is finding a breeder that focuses on health and the DNA of their program. Here at designer, all of our pups are healthy and none have ever required any single “bulldog surgery”. One of the biggest issues with breeding Big Rope dogs can come from the larger wrinkle or “rope” above their nose.

Due to the size and shape of the fold, dirt and moisture can get trapped inside. If not cleaned or wiped properly it can smell and lead to skin infections. For this reason we recommend using “bully wipes” or “baby wipes” to clean your Frenchies wrinkles every couple of days which is quick and easy.

Are big rope Frenchies rare?

Bigger ropes are rare found in the French Bulldog gene pool, making them rather rare. As a result, Big Rope Frenchies are new and becoming highly popular among higher level Frenchie breeders and AKC dog enthusiasts across the world.

What is the temperament of a big rope Frenchie?

Overall as a whole, as a breed in general the Frenchie is a very sweet, playful, alert, adaptable, and just an irresistible pet and companion.

Expect nothing but the sweetest cuddle bug, that may get into trouble while young if not supervised. We do recommend crating your Big Rope French bulldog puppy when you are not home.
